Welcome to the Carleton Place Minor Hockey Association U7 Funday!

We are delighted to host this event for our youngest players. We hope everyone enjoys a fun-filled day of hockey, teamwork, and community spirit.

Below are the rules for the tournament. Above you will find links to the teams participating, and the schedule.

The arena has a large hall upstairs that CPMHA has secured for this event. You are welcome to use this space between games to relax, or house your equipment. Just note that CPMHA, Carleton Place, or the CP Arena are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

There will be raffles and some food items sold in the lobby.

Also in the lobby will be the Love 4 Reesie Foundation (<--linked). This is a local foundation that supports local youth programs. Please visit their website to learn more about their incredible work.

There is a canteen on site that sells refreshments and food. In addition to this, Smoke Box Catering will be in the upstairs hall.

There is a Pro Shop on site. You can visit their Facebook Page for more information.

Thank you for joining us, and we wish all the teams a fantastic time on and off the ice!

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. A team must give both verbal and written notification with a minimum of ten (10) days of their intent to withdraw from a tournament. (This withdrawal also must be due to UNAVOIDABLE circumstances as per HEO Rules and Regulations).
2. All Official Registrar/Player approved Team Lists (and player cards where applicable) must be presented to our Event Coordinator 2 (two) weeks prior to the tournament start date.
3. Only players whose names appear on the players list provided by the team may participate in the tournament.
4. Each team must arrive at least half an hour before their scheduled starting time and be dressed and prepared to start the game 5 minutes early.
5. Supervision: Players must be supervised by parents or team officials at all times.
6. Please observe our dressing room procedures and remove all equipment within half an hour after the game, unless told to stay in the same room for the duration of the day.
7. There will be ALL WINNERS and NO LOSERS. No standings or scores will be kept. Purpose is to engage players in a fun environment.
8. All rules as per HEO with Code of Discipline in effect.
9. Neck guards are MANDATORY. Mouthguards are to be worn as per your district rules and regulations. A player will be removed from the ice if not wearing proper protective gear, including goalies.
10. Any player who receives a fighting penalty will be expelled from the tournament.
11. Hockey Canada Playing Rules are followed except as stated below.
12. U7 A –Generally 4 year olds and first year players, HALF ICE and NO GOALIES.
13. U7 B –Generally 5-6 year olds and second year players, HALF ICE with GOALIES.
14. U7 C - Generally 6 year olds and third year players, HALF ICE with GOALIES.
15. “A” Teams will consist of 4 vs 4 and NO goaltender. “B” and “C” teams will consist of 4 vs 4 PLUS a goaltender.
16. Teams will share the player benches with the team they will be playing against. Two coaches are permitted on the bench, per team.
17. The score clock will be used to keep time for both scrimmages simultaneously. There will be a timed buzzer every two minutes signifying a line change. Game does not stop; players change on the fly at buzzer.
18. Game format: There will be a 2 minute warm up for each game. Scrimmages will start with a face-off and consist of 46 minutes of continuous play, with a buzzer every two minutes for line change. The scrimmage will end 5 minutes earlier on every second game to allow time to displace the middle dividers for flooding of the ice.
19. After each scrimmage, players are to line up on the blue line as there will be Player of the Game Pucks handed out. Player of the game will be decided by the team's own coach.
20. Minimum of one official PER TEAM, per game. CPMHA Coaches will act as the official for each game.
21. On the buzzer/whistle, players must relinquish control of the puck immediately and vacate the ice. The new players enter the ice immediately.
22. While incidental contact may happen, body-checking is not permitted.
23. No icing or offside.
24. Goaltender freezes the puck – the official blows the whistle to indicate the attacking team backs off three metres and the defending team gets possession.
25. Puck shot out of play – the offending team backs off three metres and the official gives the non-offending team a new puck.
26. Use of Black puck (6oz) is preferred. It is to the coach’s discretion if a blue puck (4oz) is to be used instead of the standard 6oz puck.
27. Penalties: Minor penalties are noted, with the official briefly raising their arm to indicate a penalty will be assessed. At the conclusion of the shift, the official notifies the team of the infraction and the number of the offending player. If the offending team controls the puck, the official blows the whistle and calls for a change of possession; the non-offending team is given a three-metre cushion. The offending player will sit out the next shift, but the team will play even strength. Should an infraction occur that would normally require a player to be ejected from the game (game misconduct, match penalty, gross misconduct), the player will be removed for the remainder of that game. Even under these circumstances, teams will not play shorthanded and no game incident report will be required.
28. When team colours are conflicting, the home team will be expected to change sweaters or wear pinnies.
29. Players must not go on to the ice until all arena staff have left the ice, and the Zamboni door has been CLOSED. Coaching staff are to enter and exit the benches without stepping onto the ice surface. Unless the coach is to be on ice with skates and helmet on.
30. Zero Tolerance: Taunting or berating of any players, staff or tournament volunteers will NOT be tolerated under any circumstances by parents, team officials or spectators.
31. Carleton Place Minor Hockey Tournament committee does not accept teams on a first-come, first-serve basis but follows a criteria aimed to bring in as many teams as possible from as many different Associations as possible.
