Province wide Shutdown To Stop Spread of COVID-19 and Save Lives

2020-12-21

Message to CPMHA members

To our CPMHA membership:

Today, the Government of Ontario announced a Provincewide Shutdown To Stop Spread of COVID-19 and Save Lives. The shutdown will be in effect as of Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 12:01 a.m, and will be evaluated after 28 days in Southern Ontario, to determine if it is safe to lift any restrictions or if additional time is required. The Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District (LGL) Health Unit, under which the CPMHA falls, is considered part of Southern Ontario for the purposes of this shutdown.

Under the shutdown, facilities for indoor sports and recreational fitness activities will be closed. Unfortunately, this means we will be putting our CPMHA hockey programming on hold from Boxing Day until January 23, 2021. In consultations with our local arenas and under the guidance of the LGL District Health Unit and the Government of Ontario guidelines, we will reassess at that time and advise our membership of the status of our programming moving forward.

We know this is not what any of us want and we know everyone has questions, including regarding refunds due to the pause in our hockey program. Adjustments may need to be made to our cost recovery fee structure for this season and we ask for your patience and understanding as we assess the full impacts of this shutdown in order to determine what those adjustments might be.

The full details on the provincewide shutdown can be found at the Government of Ontario's website: https://www.ontario.ca/page/covid-19-provincewide-shutdown and via the LGL Health Unit's website.
The health and safety of our players and their families are our top priority.

We wish all our members a happy, healthy and safe holiday season.
